Program Details
A rarely performed masterpiece by Brahms; this song cycle is based on novelist and dramatist Ludwig Tieck's "Wondrous Love Story of the Beautiful Magelone and Peter, the Count of Provence." The story that weaves the beautiful melodies together willl be recounted in an English version by Dietlinde Turban-Maazel, who often creates programs combining text and music. Two of the Castleton Festival's outstanding young artists complete the music forces.
